Site Plan of Unknown Wreck, Crim Rocks, Isles of Scilly

Here is IMAG’s second draft site plan of an unknown wreck on the Crim to supplement our photographs’
(A newer more accurate one is under way) please ignore the information box as we now know it is incorrect. This wreck in deep water on the western side of the Crim rocks, has been adopted by the Islands' Maritime Archeaological Group (IMAG) through the Nautical Archeaological Society's 'Adopt a Wreck Scheme'. Of over 60 adopted wrecks countrywide, this one is the most westerly of all.
Sea bed evidence currently suggests a wreck of possible eastern Mediterranean origin.
Hopefully viewers will be able to read the numbers on the guns to see where the guns etc featured in the photos are situated on the plan. IMAG Members are: Todd and Carmen Stevens; Robin Burrows; Phil Roberts and Ed Cummings.

Unknown Cannon Site at Innisidgen

Here is another current project of ours (IMAG) called the Innisidgen gun site. IMAG members discovered this site as recently as 2001 but do not as yet have a positive identity for the wreck. We believe the guns could have come from a ship called the John which ran aground in 1645. Although this site is in only 30ft of water, it tends to be quite a murky area to dive so good pictures are hard to obtain.

Presently known as the Wheels Wreck

This picture is of the site of one of our (IMAG) most current projects. It is taster of what we call the wheels wreck off little Ganinick Island. We found this as yet unidentified wreck in 60 feet of water last summer (2005). After notifying English Heritage of the site they then sent a team of archaeologists to survey the site in July 2006. There are over twenty wheels of various styles and sizes among a massive cargo of mining equipment intended for who knows where. We think black and white makes a more moody picture.

Firebrand First Published Site Plan

Firebrand. This plan produced by IMAG in 2004/05 was sent to the National Monuments record office then stored in Isles of Scilly Museum archives. It was recently given to Bristol University's archaeological team to acquaint themselves with the wreck before they produced a second, if more accurate, survey of the wreck last July. Todd.
